It is completely natural to feel a mix of anxiety, urgency, and self-doubt as you go through the final days before the MRCEM Primary exam, which is scheduled to take place on 22 April 2026. And this phase can feel even more intense if you are a first-time candidate. Questions like “Have I done enough?” or “What should I focus on now?” might be running through your mind. At this stage, the most important thing is how you use the time you have left.

In this blog, we will discuss some simple and practical ways to help you stay on track and make the most of your final revision days. Read on to know more about some useful tips.

Start with what carries more weight

First, arrange your revision in accordance with the exam weightage. This is the smartest move you can make right now. According to the MRCEM Primary exam blueprint, Anatomy and Physiology together make up a large portion of the paper. Both subjects have 60 questions each. Out of 180 questions, 120 come from these topics. These are areas where you can score high if your basics are clear. So, focus on topics like the central nervous system, cranial nerves, cardiovascular system, and respiratory physiology, which are commonly tested.

Pharmacology, which has 24 questions, is another area you should give more priority on. Instead of going through everything, stick to the important drug classes, mechanisms, and frequently asked concepts. Microbiology, pathology, and evidence-based medicine may seem smaller in comparison, but they often include direct questions. So, a fast revision here can increase your score.

Revise what you have studied already

This is not the time to try new books or change materials. It may feel tempting, especially if you think you are missing out on something. But it usually leads to confusion. Stay with the notes and materials you have already used. When you revise familiar content, it reinforces your memory and builds confidence.

In addition, SBA question practice is a good option at this stage. Go through questions you have already attempted, especially the ones you got wrong. You will often find that you remember the concept much better the second time.

Don’t exhaust

Studying non-stop will not help at this stage. Your brain needs breaks to stay sharp. Maintain a balanced routine with short study sessions and proper rest in between. Sleep is especially important now, as it helps with recall and concentration.

Control your anxiety

Try to keep things simple. Remind yourself of the effort you have already put in. You do not need to be perfect to do well. If you feel overwhelmed, take a short break, clear your mind, and come back with a fresh mind.

Be smart on exam day

Read each question carefully and avoid rushing. At the same time, keep an eye on the clock. Do not get stuck if a question feels too difficult. Make a reasonable choice and move ahead.

Many candidates lose marks not because they do not know the answer, but because they overthink. Trust your preparation and go with your instincts when you are reasonably confident.
