  • Examination Date: January 28, 2025
  • Results Announcement: March 12, 2025

Understanding the MRCEM Intermediate SBA Examination

The MRCEM Intermediate SBA examination represents the second crucial milestone in your journey toward RCEM Membership. This theoretical assessment is designed to evaluate your knowledge of Emergency Medicine at an advanced level. Based on the comprehensive RCEM Clinical Syllabus, it tests your understanding of various conditions and patient presentations commonly encountered in Emergency Departments.

Examination Format

  • The examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • Questions are in Single Best Answer (SBA) format
  • Each paper contains 90 questions
  • Duration: Two-hour session per paper
  • One-hour break between papers

MRCEM Intermediate Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the MRCEM Intermediate 2025 examination, candidates must possess a primary medical qualification approved by the General Medical Council (GMC) and have successfully completed the MRCEM Primary examination.

Candidates should maintain full medical registration with a current license to practice and have accumulated at least 2 years of medical experience following their primary medical degree.

Additionally, proficiency in English is essential, with IELTS Level 7 being the expected standard for MRCEM completion. All requirements must be met before applying for the examination.

How to Confirm Your Slot

Applications open at 10:00 AM (UK time) on the opening date and closes by 5:00 PM (UK time) on the closing date.  Since you have only one week to confirm your slots, ensure you submit your application at the earliest.
