The MRCEM OSCE is the last assessment you need to clear in order to achieve the ‘MRCEM’ postnominal. The candidates must have passed MRCEM Primary and SBA to be eligible for the MRCEM OSCE. Unlike the first two steps in the MRCEM exam series, the OSCE is a practical exam which tests your ability to apply clinical knowledge in an emergency setting.

The term ‘OSCE’ stands for Objective Structured Clinical Examination. You will be tested on your clinical skills while you examine a patient in front of an examiner. Apart from clinical knowledge, your communication skills will also be assessed in the exam.

MRCEM OSCE: Structure of the exam

The MRCEM OSCE exam consists of 16 stations in total, and each station will have an 8-minute duration. There will be one minute provided between the stations to read the case scenarios. In addition, two rest stations are also added in the exam.
