The booking window for the upcoming MRCEM SBA exam, which is scheduled to take place this September, is going to open soon. The RCEM will start accepting applications from June 17, 2025, and the booking window will close one week later on June 23, 2025. This booking period reflects a revised schedule. According to RCEM, the change was made to ensure a smooth experience for candidates applying to this exam and those accessing the results from the MRCEM Primary May 2025 exam.

About MRCEM SBA September 2025 exam
MRCEM Intermediate SBA is the second hurdle in the MRCEM journey. It is a theoretical exam that tests a candidate’s understanding of the full range of conditions and presentations that may be encountered in the emergency department. Let’s have a look at the exam format of the MRCEM SBA.
Exam format: Multiple choice questions (MCQ) with single best answers (SBA)
Number of questions: 180
Sections: 2
Timing: 4 hours (2 x 2 hours with a 1-hour break in the middle)
Location: Pearson Vue Test Centres

To apply for the MRCEM SBA exam, you must:
- Hold a PMQ accepted by the GMC
- Have full medical registration and a valid licence to practise
- Have at least 2 years of post-degree medical experience (including internship/house jobs)
- Have already passed MRCEM Primary
