Good news for all candidates who have cleared the MRCEM Intermediate SBA. The Royal College of Emergency Medicine in the UK has started accepting bookings for the next OSCE in London (second diet of 2026). The booking window opened on 11 March 2026 and will close on 18 March, so eligible candidates can apply for their slot and start planning their final preparation strategy.
According to the official RCEM website, this diet exam is scheduled to take place between 27 May 2026 and 11 June 2026. MRCEM OSCE: Who can apply?
The candidates should meet some eligibility criteria to appear for the MRCEM OSCE. They must:
- Have passed both the MRCEM Primary and MRCEM SBA
- Hold a primary medical qualification accepted by the General Medical Council
- Have a current full medical registration with a licence to practise
- Have 6 months’ FTE emergency medicine experience above foundation training or equivalent (post-full registration experience)
About MRCEM OSCE
It is the final hurdle of the MRCEM pathway, where your practical skills, clinical judgement, and communication skills are put to the test. It is an Objective Structured Clinical Examination which involves 16 eight-minute stations. Additionally, one minute of reading time is provided between each station to read the information about the respective station’s scenario. In addition to the 16 stations, there are two, eight-minute rest stations.
