As per the official RCEM website, candidates can start applying for the exam from 29 October 2025 onwards. A link to the application form will be made online at 10 am (UK time) on 29 October 2025. The application window will close at 4 pm on 5 November 2025.

About MRCEM SBA
The MRCEM SBA is the second hurdle you need to clear to achieve the RCEM membership. It is a computer-based theoretical exam that assesses a candidate’s ability to apply clinical knowledge to real-life scenarios. You will need to answer a total of 180 Single Best Answer (SBA) questions across two papers.
MRCEM SBA exam eligibility criteria
- Must hold a Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) accepted by the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Must have a current full medical registration with a licence to practise.
- Have two years of post-degree medical experience (including internship or house jobs)
- Must have cleared the MRCEM Primary exam.
